This course is a 2-hour module involving self-directed study. This leads to acquiring 2 CPD points. It uses current academic research alongside the viewpoints of the autistic community to understand how Good Practice can take place.

The course objectives:

• To increase understanding of the varying models of disability and how they impact on the way we view autism.  

• To provide an increased knowledge and emphasis on the importance of continuous reflection, empathy, and flexibility in order to make the adjustments required.  

• To provide an overview of techniques and strategies that can impact positively on autistic individuals.  

• To enable learners on this course to use a more positive, capabilities approach to autism rather than focusing on difficulties.
